Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and strategic Content Specialist and Writer to join our team and help amplify the voice of Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship. This individual will be responsible for crafting compelling, mission-driven content that communicates our vision of empowering individuals to achieve entrepreneurial success. The Content Specialist and Writer will create content that supports student recruitment, enhances our community presence, and strengthens our engagement with diverse audiences.
Success in this role will be measured in the ability to engage target audiences, increase student visits and applications, as well as positively influence awareness of Golisano Institute within the community.
This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Develop and write content that not only informs but inspires action from key audiences, such as prospective students, parents, and community stakeholders across various platforms, including website, social media, digital advertising campaigns, collateral/brochures, and blog posts.
- Craft impactful stories that highlight Golisano Institute’s unique mission, achievements, and student success stories.
Social Media Management
- Monitor and actively engage with online communities to build relationships, resolve customer issues, and ensure a positive brand experience.
- Manage all company social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, ensuring consistency and alignment with our brand voice.
- Plan and schedule posts using social media management tools like Buffer, ensuring timely and impactful content delivery.
- Design and implement innovative social media strategies to enhance brand awareness, achieve measurable engagement goals, and support business objectives.
Voice Development
- Ensure that all content reflects and supports Golisano Institute’s mission to be a national leader in alternative post-secondary business education, while maintaining consistency in brand voice and tone.
Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, admissions, academic department, and leadership, to ensure content strategies align with growth priorities.
- Partner with subject-matter experts (faculty, staff, and alumni) to create accurate, impactful content.
- Engage with students to create impactful content.
Editorial Oversight
- Proofread and edit content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Manage monthly content calendars and schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Analytics and Optimization
- Monitor and analyze the performance of content using analytics tools to continuously refine strategies to improve engagement and effectiveness.
- Stay informed of trends in higher education marketing and content development.
Qualifications Required
- 3+ years of professional writing or content development experience, preferably in higher education or a mission-driven organization.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling skills, and a passion for developing content that promotes entrepreneurship and student success.
- Ability to adopt and shape a brand voice consistently across various platforms.
- Experience in digital marketing and knowledge of SEO best practices.
- Proficiency with content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms.
Preferred
- Familiarity with higher education audiences and messaging.
- Experience in developing creative projects from concept to completion.
- Solid understanding of Associated Press (AP) style.
- Knowledge of CRM tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
- Graphic design or multimedia content creation skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
