Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Editor to lead and oversee the production of our health-focused newsletters. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of writers, editing content to ensure it aligns with our editorial standards, and scheduling regular posts to engage and inform our audience. This role requires excellent organizational, editorial, and leadership skills to maintain the publication's quality and reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the editorial calendar.
- Assign topics and deadlines to writers, ensuring timely submission of articles.
- Maintain the overall tone, voice, and quality of the newsletter's content.
Editing and Quality Control:
- Review and edit content for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with editorial standards.
- Ensure all content is fact-checked and adheres to health communication guidelines.
- Optimize content for readability and audience engagement
Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and support a team of freelance and in-house writers.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve writing quality.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss ideas and resolve challenges.
Publishing and Distribution:
- Oversee the design and layout of the newsletter to enhance visual appeal.
- Schedule and publish the newsletter across designated platforms.
- Monitor analytics to assess reader engagement and adapt strategies accordingly.
Collaboration:
- Stay updated on health trends and topics to curate relevant and timely content.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Managing Editor or in a similar role, preferably in health or lifestyle publishing.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong understanding of digital publishing platforms and content management systems (CMS).
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and analytics tools.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $57,967.00 - $70,000.00 per year
