Salt Depot was founded in 2008 to meet an industry demand for high quality deicing products with superior quality and value. Our Company has grown to offer a wide variety of ice melt products, water softener salt and pellets to bagged landscape rock. We specialize in premium products and proudly manufacture, package, and ship our trademarked products throughout the US and Canada. Salt Depot is expanding with our Sister Company FLUX Minerals in Grantsville, Utah and is seeking a Livestock Nutritionist to facilitate the creation of our new Livestock product Line. This position serves as a technical and strategic interface, coordinating product development, customer relations and sales support. WAGES: $85,000 + (DOE)
SCHEDULE:
· Monday through Friday 7:00am – 5:00pm
· Travel required.
· Must have own vehicle but will provide a vehicle allowance, company laptop, credit card and phone.
· Location Grantsville, Utah.
PRIMARY duties INCLUDE:
· Technical Support: Deliver expert technical support on animal nutrition products to customers and internal teams.
· Comply with applicable OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations; maintain appropriate compliance records.
· Review formulas to ensure blending of compatible feed ingredients, proper sequencing, production efficiency and optimized formulation cost; process change analysis to maintain nutritional integrity; maximize plant efficiencies.
· Ensure that all products are properly formulated, labeled and in compliance with applicable regulations that meet customer needs.
· Field Service: Collaborate closely with sales representatives and customers to implement the best practices, conduct on-site assessments, and offer training to enhance product efficacy.
· Set a positive example for employees by modeling safe work practices and following safety rules and policies. Communicate critical safety information to employees by conducting regular safety training; monitor workplace for unsafe/noncompliant behavior.
· Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to assist in training and standardizing procedures.
· Provide in-depth training for both internal and external customers; continually raising their level of competency, advancing to a higher degree in understanding of pet nutrition and our specialty products and services.
· Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with research, sales, and marketing teams to launch new products, optimize existing offerings, gather insights from field applications, and provide valuable feedback for product improvements.
· Develop department capital and operating budgets; manage expenses by studying historical data, anticipating needs and researching costs.
· Manage department supply inventory by researching costs, designing inventory systems, determining inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies and approving orders.
· Technical Documentation: Prepare high-quality technical documents, including white papers, case studies, and research summaries, to support marketing efforts.
· Assist marketing in developing technical product literature and other materials to inform company personnel and customers of the features, benefits and proper use of products and programs.
· Trade Shows: Represent the company and attend trade shows and industry events as needed.
· Special Projects: Participate in additional technical and marketing projects as assigned.
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in animal science, animal nutrition or agricultural sciences
· PhD in animal nutrition with practical experience with one or more species, preferably livestock animals.
· Strong knowledge of farming practices and nutritional requirements in the livestock and poultry industry
· 3-5 years of experience in the animal feed or nutrition industry
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills
· Proficient in technical writing for promotional and educational content
· Think critically, logically, and perform various mathematical calculations to ensure integrity and accuracy of customer formulas.
· Continually think outside the box to help the management team improve processes and overcome challenges.
· Experience with premix formulation, product management, sales, marketing and/or companion animal or monogastric feed production is a major plus.
· Knowledge of nutritional feed ingredients and their characteristics, blending and sequencing of feed ingredients.
· Computer skills in formulation software, word processing, spreadsheet applications, email programs and statistical and data analysis software a plus.
