Specific Qualifications:

5. Experience organizing public events.
6. Comprehensive understanding of issues related to sexual assault, domestic violence, social and racial justice.
7. Demonstrate respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.
Education & Technical Skills:
1. Minimum AA Degree, BA degree preferred in communication, education, social work, Women’s Studies or related field.
2. Skills working on Windows based PC.
3. Experience collecting and reporting data.
Functions:
Assist to coordinate, facilitate, and participate in the delivery of prevention education presentations to schools, businesses, agencies, and community groups in the following areas: sexual assault, domestic violence, and social justice. Assist with developing appropriate materials to be used with agencies and businesses. Coordinate activities related to all areas and/or events to increase community awareness and encourage active community participation.
Responsibilities:
1. Work with flexible schedule and the potential of increased hours.
2. Prepare and provide educational presentations and training to general public audiences of all ages and professionals in compliance with statewide curriculum and other agency approved materials.
3. Prepare educational and promotional material for distribution via the media and brochures.
4. Establish and maintain liaison with community groups, businesses, and agencies in order to promote educational programming, professional training, encourage utilization of YWCA Kaua‘i services in all three areas.
5. Attend and participate in any state, and local meetings, boards, etc. as directed that addresses sexual violence and domestic violence prevention, and social justice.
6. Provide “crisis counseling” in situations of disclosure due to material covered in presentations.
7. Plan and coordinate community events designed to raise awareness of sexual assault, domestic violence, and social justice issues.
8. Identify potential partner organizations to establish support for race dialogue, programs and initiatives to eliminate racism.
9. Attend and participate in and collaborate with other organizations with a focus on social justice work.
10. In partnership with community partners, YWCA committees, local community members, organizations and other interested parties, identify potential speakers, topics of interest, and community concerns appropriate for social justice dialogue.
11. Follow up on community dialogue sessions to develop strategies and action to move communities forward in the goal of eliminating racism.
12. Work collaboratively with the YWCA committees to assess the needs and viability of the program.
13. Continually elevate topics for broader YWCA discussion and action. Provide content for YWCA social media and other marketing/communications outlets in a timely, proactive manner.
14. Perform other functions as needed or assigned.
Additional Requirements:
1. Valid driver’s license, vehicle and proof of insurance.
2. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
3. Willing and able to work at multiple locations on Kauaʻi and off island.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 per hour
