About the Role
The Producer/Editor (PrEditor) will oversee the full lifecycle of content creation for Food52, collaborating with teams to produce and edit short-form and long-form videos that engage and resonate with our audience. This role involves managing content distribution across platforms, ensuring timely posting, and utilizing social media trends to create viral moments. The PrEditor will lead brainstorming sessions, direct shoots, assist with talent selection, and monitor trends to keep content relevant and engaging. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and skilled in video production and editing, with a focus on maximizing audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of content creation, from topic selection to video launch, collaborating with culinary content creators and social media teams to choose engaging topics that resonate with our audience.
- Develop, pitch, and produce short-form video content, both in the studio and on location, ensuring alignment with content goals and trends. Work with internal and external partners to build upon past content.
- Ensure all videos have approved titles and thumbnails ahead of time, collaborating with the Head of Social & Production. Manage distribution across all platforms to ensure timely posting of full episodes, VOD clips, and Shorts.
- Edit full shows, VOD clips, and Shorts with a focus on pacing, hooks, and visual storytelling, using motion graphics, captions, and dynamic reactions to maintain audience engagement and maximize replayability.
- Craft retention-heavy cold opens and ensure seamless pacing throughout content, optimizing for viewer retention and shareability across platforms.
- Ideate and execute content that taps into social media trends (using transitions, sounds, etc.) and create viral-worthy moments. Craft retention-heavy cold opens, and edit VOD clips and Shorts for replayability and shareability.
- Lead brainstorming sessions, collaborate with internal teams, external talent, and partners, and manage content projects from ideation to execution, ensuring dynamic pacing and viewer engagement.
- Assemble reaction content (tweets, memes, clips) to enhance shows and monitor real-time trends to influence content decisions. Assist with talent selection and direct shoots/interviews as needed.
- Occasionally work on projects outside of social media, as bandwidth allows.
Ideal Skills
- Deep understanding of social media culture and Food52’s audience, with the ability to craft viral-worthy topics that resonate with our community.
- Proficient in video editing (Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut) and expert-level skills in Premiere Pro (After Effects a plus).
- Strong storytelling instincts, with an eye for pacing and the ability to create engaging content that keeps viewers hooked.
- Knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube SEO, headlines, and thumbnails to drive maximum engagement and visibility.
- 5 - 7 years of experience in digital-production role with a focus on content creation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media, Production or related field preferred
- Directed shoots short and long term
- An up-to-date knowledge of the latest social trends
- Interest in food, home, entertainment and lifestyle a plus
- Clear understanding of trends & in-app tools
- A willingness to experiment for audience discovery and engagement
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Diligent attention to detail, experience in project management
- Ability to multitask at a very high level and jungle multiple projects at various stages
- Excellent project management skills
COMPENSATION
For residents of CT, NJ or NY the compensation for this role is $80,000 - $100,000.
This is an exempt role.
This role is bonus eligible.
