SUMMARY
Proofreaders edit content for publication, maintaining consistency, readability, and accuracy for any of EPC’s weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly publications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Review and edit content of articles, captions, press releases, and other written content for grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and typographical errors.

Check for consistency in style, tone, and formatting across all content.

Verify information and ensure the accuracy of content.

Work closely with the editor(s), layout, and other team members to ensure the final product is accurate and professional.

Accurately input event details and cross-check for accuracy and consistency.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Occasionally field queries from clients through phone or email and contact news item clients as needed to clarify information.

Occasionally, create supplementary editorial content.

Other duties may be assigned.

Language: Excellent grammar, writing, and editing skills.
- Math: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Technology: Have good computer skills, including knowledge of work processing and design programs. Proficiency in MS Office, FileMaker.

Strong attention to detail.

Working knowledge of AP style and other standard references.
- Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong sense of organization and process and problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.

Two years of experience in editing or copy editing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
