As our business expands, we’re seeking a dedicated Email and SMS Lead to take ownership of our direct-to-customer communication strategy and help drive engagement, retention, and growth.
About the Role
As the Email and SMS Lead, you will be responsible for strategically planning, designing, and executing all email and SMS marketing efforts across the FoodServiceDirect ecosystem. This is a hands-on role requiring creative thinking, technical know-how, and performance analysis. You’ll work within our marketing team to own the channels end-to-end — from writing and design, to automation, segmentation, and reporting.
Initially focused on these two critical communication channels, the role will expand over time as we scale, offering a path to broader leadership in customer retention and lifecycle marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and Execute Campaigns – Build and manage promotional, lifecycle, and transactional email and SMS campaigns targeting both U.S. and Canadian customers.
- Design and Write – Develop high-performing copy and layouts that align with our brand voice and drive engagement.
- Manage Automation & Journeys – Set up and optimize workflows such as welcome series, cart abandonment, re-engagement, and win-back flows.
- Audience Segmentation – Build targeted segments based on customer behavior, lifecycle stage, and purchase history.
- Testing & Optimization – Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, messaging, and send times to improve KPIs.
- Performance Reporting – Use platforms like Google Analytics 4 and campaign dashboards to analyze open rates, CTR, conversions, and revenue impact.
- Channel Growth – Recommend and test new strategies to increase list size, improve deliverability, and enhance customer journeys.
- Collaboration – Work closely with design, brand, data, and ecommerce teams to ensure messaging aligns across channels.
- Compliance – Ensure CAN-SPAM, CASL, and TCPA compliance across all outbound communications.
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of experience in email and SMS marketing, ideally within an e-commerce or DTC environment
- Hands-on experience with DotDigital, Klaviyo, HubSpot, or similar platforms
- Proficiency with Google Analytics 4 for tracking and reporting
- Strong copywriting, editing, and email layout/design skills
- Experience building automated flows and customer journeys
- Familiarity with segmentation strategies and audience lifecycle mapping
- Basic knowledge of Google Ads and Merchant Center is a plus
