About Us:
We are a fast-growing tech startup at the intersection of AI and consumer electronics, and we’re looking for a Content Team Lead to spearhead our content strategy and execution. If you thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and love the challenge of building content operations from the ground up, this role is for you! As the Content Team Lead, you will wear many hats – strategy owner, team manager, project driver – to develop content that engages both businesses and consumers. You’ll work closely with our team in China and the US to create content that resonates globally. This full-time role is primarily on-site in Los Angeles, where you’ll be at the center of our content creation engine. (Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Mandarin is highly preferred.)
Your Responsibilities:
- Define and Drive Content Strategy: You will develop a clear content roadmap that supports our business goals. Plan campaigns and break them into actionable projects with measurable targets. We expect you to set up regular check-ins and PDCA-style reviews – plan, execute, review results, and adjust – to keep the content strategy agile and effective.
- Lead a Creative Team: Manage a content team of 4-5 creatives (writers, videographers, etc.). You’ll create and maintain a content calendar (our schedule of blogs, videos, posts) and a robust content matrix to ensure we cover all our bases (from thought leadership articles to viral social videos). As a hands-on leader, you will assign tasks, keep everyone on track, and foster a collaborative atmosphere. Content ideas flow freely here, but you’ll be the one to channel them into an organized plan across platforms (website, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
- Multi-Audience Content Production: Orchestrate content that speaks to both businesses and consumers. For B2B, that means showcasing AI solutions in action – e.g., crafting compelling case studies or demo videos on how our AI technology improves retail operations or healthcare outcomes. For B2C, it means fun, engaging short-form videos and content – think product unboxing, reviews, and influencer-style storytelling that can drive customer interest and sales. You’ll oversee the end-to-end execution of these content pieces (without needing to do all the video editing yourself – we have specialists for that).
- Growth & Optimization: In a startup, we live by the numbers. You’ll monitor content performance data closely (views, click-throughs, conversion, sales generated) and pivot quickly when something isn’t hitting the mark. Using a growth-hacking mindset, you will experiment with different content approaches, A/B test ideas, and iterate based on what the analytics tell us. The goal is constant improvement of content ROI – more engagement, more leads, more revenue.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the Marketing and Sales teams to align content with our product launches and campaigns. Also, you’ll coordinate with our Chinese content/marketing team to ensure our global message is consistent (and get localized content right). This role requires working with diverse teams across time zones, so being culturally savvy and communicative is key.
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications):
- Experience: 3+ years in content marketing, content strategy, or a similar field. You should have demonstrable experience leading projects or teams. Startup experience is a big plus – we value someone who can adapt and innovate with limited resources.
- Bilingual Communication: Excellent English writing and speaking skills are a must. Mandarin Chinese proficiency is highly preferred, as a lot of our coordination with the product team (and some content consumers) will involve Chinese. You should be comfortable crafting content strategies that may involve bilingual content pieces.
- Leadership & Organization: Experience managing a small team or content creators. You have the leadership chops to inspire creative individuals and the organizational skills to keep multiple projects on schedule. Familiarity with running projects in cycles (using methods like PDCA or Agile sprints) to continually improve results is desired.
- Content Strategist Mindset: Ability to develop content calendars and a multi-channel content plan. You know how to identify target audiences and tailor content for each (e.g., how a case study for a business audience differs from a TikTok video for consumers). Solid understanding of social media trends, SEO basics, and what makes content shareable is expected.
- Data-Driven & Adaptive: You love metrics and data. Proficiency with analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media insights, etc.) to track performance and inform decisions is crucial. When the data points out a new direction, you’re quick to adjust the strategy. Past success stories of growing an audience or boosting engagement through content adjustments are great to hear about.
- Industry Knowledge: Passion or background in AI technology or consumer electronics. Maybe you’ve created content about tech gadgets, AI applications, or you just geek out about the latest tech trends – that’s fantastic. It will help you quickly grasp our product domain and create more authentic content.
- Creativity & Initiative: A creative storyteller at heart with a pragmatic streak. We want someone who can dream up great content ideas and also execute them. You take initiative, aren’t afraid to propose new content experiments, and can handle the fast pace and ambiguity of a startup environment.
- Other Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred but not mandatory if you have great experience. You must be authorized to work in the US. This role is primarily on-site, so you should be able to work from our Los Angeles office and engage face-to-face with the team daily.
Compensation & Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary ($50,000–$60,000 base DOE) plus 8% commission on Gross Merchandise Value (sales) driven by content and an annual bonus/profit-sharing. This means as you help us grow our content’s impact on sales, you directly share in the success. We also provide startup perks: stock option eligibility, healthcare coverage, and a flexible PTO policy. If you’re excited about building a content engine from scratch and growing with us, we’d love to hear from you!
