Rivers Family of Companies is a locally owned, growing collection of small businesses serving West Michigan:
- Retail: Rivers Ace Hardware stores located in Whitehall, Grand Haven, Holland, Rothbury, and Shelby.
- Hospitality: Colby’s Café & Brew in Whitehall.
- Home Services: Rivers Ace Handyman Services and Rivers Rental & Equipment.
- Agriculture: Tri-County Feeds in Montague and New Era.

What You’ll Do
Content Creation & Social Media
- Capture photography and video for use across marketing channels.
- Write and design engaging social media posts, graphics, and promotional materials.
- Manage and post content for consolidated Rivers Ace social channels, plus additional accounts for other brands.
Campaigns & Marketing Support
- Plan and execute marketing initiatives for all business channels, leveraging both Ace Hardware-provided materials and original concepts for independent brands.
- Coordinate with managers to adapt marketing efforts for local needs.
- Manage the company’s web presence, working with outside vendors to maintain and update websites for all business channels.
- Oversee occasional advertising buys (print, radio, digital).
Events & Community Engagement
- Partner with the Events Coordinator to plan and market both Ace-sponsored and company-hosted events.
- Assist with on-site event support at stores and in the community (parades, customer appreciation days, Trunk or Treat, etc.).
- Manage donation request processing and community outreach.
Analytics & Online Reputation
- Track and report marketing performance, ROI, and engagement metrics.
- Monitor and coordinate responses to online reviews.
Brand & Apparel
- Oversee uniform and branded apparel ordering and distribution for team members.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 3–5 years in marketing, ideally in retail, hospitality, services, or another community-focused business.
- Education: Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Skills:
- Strong photography and visual storytelling ability.
- Proficiency with social media management and basic design tools.
- Clear, compelling written communication.
- Comfortable analyzing data and using it to guide decisions.
- Mindset:
- Resourceful, budget-conscious, and results-driven.
- Comfortable working independently and juggling multiple projects.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced, sometimes reactive retail and service environment.
- Curious, creative, and eager to learn.
Details
- Type: Full-Time, Hybrid (primarily based in Whitehall/Muskegon County, with travel to other locations)
- Salary Range: Starting at $50,000 + benefits
- Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional evenings/weekends for events
- Travel: Regular visits to company locations and for in person operations meetings
