Job Description
The Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) is seeking a highly motivated Communications & Marketing Associate with exceptional writing, speaking, and digital content-creation capabilities. The individual will help highlight Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side as one of the world’s leading shopping & hospitality destinations, and promote the galleries, restaurants, hotels, spas and fashion, jewelry and home decor brands that operate within our district. The candidate shall serve as a “voice” of Madison Avenue across and within digital content, and be an integral & cooperative part of the daily operation of our organization in fulfilling its many responsibilities to its constituents.
The Madison Avenue BID is a not-for-profit, public/private partnership dedicated to the stewardship of district, and provides supplemental public safety and sanitation services, capital improvements, marketing & promotion and advocacy services for its member businesses and the community.
The candidate shall:
· Act as support for Madison Ave BID President to promote activities, events and participation by all BID retailers and business owners;
· Help create strategic brand and seasonal marketing strategies with a 360 approach and implementation;
· Partner with retail leadership to help promote and execute best in class programming and events on Madison Avenue, and encourage businesses to participate in our programming & utilize our uniformed services;
· Cultivate relationships with store managers and the marketing teams representing Madison Avenue retailers and identify ways to collaborate;
· Develop and execute social media & direct-to-consumer newsletter campaigns, and grow following, engagement and awareness;
· Research and produce new content as well as shoot and edit new photo/video content;
· Regularly update content, including business listings and photography, on the Madison Avenue BID’s website and mobile app;
· Monitor the company's social media & WhatsApp accounts and offer constructive interaction with users;
· Track website metrics using Google Analytics and provide recommendations;
· Create monthly reports for each platform;
· Maintain constituent contact databases;
· Research and monitor activity of company competitors’ social media channels;
· Assist on the ground at BID-sponsored special events & activations;
· Provide general constituent services & office support, including, but not limited to: contacting city agencies regarding various street conditions, engaging with BID uniformed personnel to solve problems, aid in answering office phones;
· Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
· Ability to work independently, deal with ambiguity, and meet deadlines in a fast-moving, results-driven environment;
· Manage multiple projects at a time and ability to organize details and complete projects in a timely manner;
· Knowledge of & strong interest in luxury fashion & hospitality brands, commercial real estate, and public spaces;
· 2-4 years of experience in the digital space, and professional engagement in using social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, etc.);
· Well-versed in digital media and social media metrics and monitoring tools;
· Experience in successfully creating and managing strategic social marketing projects;
· Experience with SEO;
· Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal skills;
· Keen interest in and knowledge of social media platforms and other communications tools; passion for storytelling and/or news reporting using digital media. Experience with paid social media advertising. Knowledge of Facebook's advertising platform is required;
· Experience with search engine marketing and Google AdWords;
· Strong creativity and critical thinking skills; personal enthusiasm and individual initiative;
· Basic graphic design skills, basic photo and video editing skills;
· Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in marketing, communications, journalism, business, urban planning, or a closely related field.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
