Red Seat Ventures (RSV) is seeking an experienced Podcast Writer/Producer to join our growing audio production team. We are developing a daily news podcast for a legacy news client and need a writer with deep newsroom experience, a sharp editorial eye, and an ear for compelling storytelling in an audio format.
Responsibilities
· Work closely with the Executive Producer and Host to pitch, research, and write tight, engaging, and well- paced scripts for a daily news podcast.
· Develop high-impact story angles and craft scripts that balance clarity and narrative engagement.
· Write show descriptions, promotional copy, and episode thumbnails to maximize listener engagement.
· Ensure that all content is factually accurate, legally sound, and editorially rigorous while maintaining the show's distinct voice and tone.
· Monitor breaking news and adjust scripts as necessary under tight deadlines.
· Collaborate and refine scripts in response to feedback.
Qualifications
· 5+ years of full-time news writing experience (broadcast, digital, or print) is required; experience writing for audio or podcasts is strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to write quickly and clearly under deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy and depth.
· Strong understanding of journalistic fact-checking, and attribution.
· Ability to translate complex news stories into compelling, digestible scripts for audio audiences.
· Experience working in a fast-paced, editorially rigorous newsroom or production environment.
· A keen understanding of podcast pacing, audience engagement, and script flow is a plus.
