Editorial Copyeditor, Consultant
We are currently seeking candidates for an Editorial Copyeditor, Consultant opportunity with a highly successful Investment Management firm located in Boston, MA. The Editorial Copyeditor, Consultant combines editorial precision with creative copywriting to craft and refine short-form content, translating complex financial concepts into clear, compelling messaging. This role collaborates closely with editorial, marketing, design, and investment teams to ensure all content is accurate, engaging, brand-aligned, and compliant.
This is a 3+ month contract-to-hire opportunity, paying between $35-$45/hour (depending on experience).
Location: Boston, MA
Work-Model: Hybrid – onsite 3 days and remote 2 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Performs copyediting, editing, proofreading, and polishing a diverse array of marketing, client-facing, and internal content to ensure clarity, cohesion, and consistency in tone, grammar, and brand voice.
- Drafts and optimizes short-form copy for usage across digital and print channels, including writing content for headlines, subheads, email subject lines, banner ads, social media posts, and video scripts.
- Works cross-functionally with designers, writers, marketers, and content strategists to deliver persuasive and engaging copy, prioritizing on-brand messaging that aligns with business goals and brand and style standards.
- Ensures content meets regulatory and compliance standards.
- Champions and evolves the company’s editorial style guide, maintaining a distinctive tone of voice across platforms.
- Reviews, edits, and delivers technical and investment-related content with strong brand storytelling and subject-matter accuracy.
- Manages multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and strong prioritization skills.
- Communicates all edits and comments in a timely and effective manner. Promotes a collaborative editorial process and supports continuous content improvement.
- Assists with training initiatives to upskill team members and internal partners on style standards, brand language, and copy best practices.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of the company’s product suite, audience personas, channel-specific content needs, and regulatory frameworks influencing messaging.
- Provides additional supports as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Finance, or a related field.
- 4-5+ years of professional experience in financial copywriting and copyediting, ideally within asset management, wealth management, or institutional investment communications.
- Strong portfolio showcasing short-form content and editorial excellence within a regulated, compliance-driven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) is a plus.
- Deep expertise in grammar, punctuation, syntax, and AP style. Advanced editing, proofreading, and content quality assurance skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines, juggle multiple high-priority projects, and meet tight deadlines with precision and organization.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, with experience working cross-functionally.
