Copy Editor – Financial Services
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Duration: 3+ month contract-to-hire
Pay: $35–$45/hr (based on experience)
Hours: 40 hours/week
A leading investment management firm in Boston is seeking an experienced Copy Editor with a strong financial services background. In this role, you’ll edit and create concise, compelling short-form content—such as headlines, emails, social media posts, web banners, and promotional blurbs. You’ll work closely with editorial, marketing, design, investment writing, and compliance teams to ensure all materials are clear, accurate, brand-consistent, and compliant with industry regulations.
The ideal candidate brings a keen editorial eye, fluency in financial language, and the ability to distill complex investment concepts into engaging, audience-friendly copy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and proofread marketing, client-facing, and internal content for clarity, grammar, consistency, and brand alignment.
- Write and refine short-form content including subject lines, taglines, headlines, social media copy, digital ads, and video scripts.
- Collaborate with writers, designers, and marketers to create compelling content that aligns with brand voice and business objectives.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by coordinating closely with Legal and Compliance teams.
- Maintain and evolve the firm’s editorial style guide and tone of voice across communication channels.
- Edit technical investment content to meet both readability and accuracy standards.
- Manage multiple projects and tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Offer clear, actionable editorial feedback and foster collaborative relationships across departments.
- Train and support internal teams on editorial standards and best practices.
- Stay informed on company products, communications strategies, and compliance protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of copyediting and copywriting experience, ideally in financial services.
- Strong knowledge of asset management, wealth management, or institutional investing preferred.
- Excellent grasp of grammar, punctuation, AP style, and editorial best practices.
- Proven track record of editing short-form content in a regulated industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and project management tools a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to collaborate across teams and geographies.
