Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest classic and collector car auction company, is seeking a copy editor to add to its marketing team. The role of the copy editor will be to ensure that all advertisements, printed publications, relevant customer communications, catalogs, website, etc., remain accurate, error-free and consistent with the Mecum Auctions brand and style. This person should have strong knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, etc., as well as an excellent eye for detail. In addition to copy editing, this role will allow for opportunities to research, conduct interviews and construct articles around these findings for use on Mecum’s website and in the company’s printed publications, including the collector-car auction industry’s only monthly publication, Mecum Magazine and its companion Mecum Overdrive.
Responsibilities
* Proofread, copy edit and fact check all advertisements, catalogs, and other such company publications.
* Proofread, copy edit and fact check website elements.
* Proofread, copy edit, fact check and write emails, letters and other communications directed to auction customers.
* Perform research and interviews to construct articles for Mecum's website and publications.
* Assist with other editing and writing projects as needed.
Qualifications
* Degree in English, journalism or equivalent is preferred.
* 2 + years of experience writing, editing or copy editing preferred.
* Understanding of, and experience using AP style or other industry standard.
* Eye for detail and strong knowledge of the rules of grammar required.
* Ability to conduct interviews, research and construct articles from findings.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills.
* Knowledge and interest about automobiles is not required but would be a welcomed bonus.
Job is Monday through Friday, 8AM -5PM at our Headquarters in Walworth, WI. This is not a remote job. Casual work environment, excellent benefits including company paid health, dental, matching 401k, etc.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
