Wilderness Travel is seeking a talented Content Marketing and Copywriting Specialist to join our adventure travel team in Berkeley, California. This dynamic role involves working closely with a marketing team of eight on a variety of print, digital, and social marketing initiatives. The primary responsibilities include producing high-quality trip materials such as detailed itineraries and pre-departure documents, as well as crafting compelling copy for digital channels.
We’re looking for a strategic thinker who is highly self-motivated, organized, and knowledgeable about current marketing trends. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with excellent project management skills who thrives on improving messaging and driving customer engagement. Above all, we’re looking for someone passionate about adventure travel and excited to share the world with our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Copywriting: Create engaging, on-brand content for marketing emails, blog posts, web pages, and social media campaigns. Ensure materials align with the company’s voice and standards and are optimized for SEO.
- Copyediting: Edit detailed trip itineraries, annual catalogs, and web copy, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Collaborate with the sales team to keep marketing materials up-to-date.
- Social Media & SEM Optimization: Help manage social media and SEM campaigns, including editorial calendar planning, content creation, performance tracking, paid ad campaigns (across Meta and Google Ads), and engagement analysis.
- Collaboration & Marketing Production: Work closely with an eight-person marketing team consisting of writers, designers, photo editors, and management. Take requests and edits from the larger team of Area Managers, Operations Managers, and regional Trip Leaders to produce and maintain accuracy across all marketing materials.
Qualifications and Skills
- Marketing Experience: Minimum 2+ years, preferably in travel, lifestyle, or luxury industries.
- Writing Expertise: Exceptional writing and editing skills; prior copywriting and editing experience is preferred.
- Strategic and Self-Motivated: Critical thinker who can independently drive initiatives and identify opportunities.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities with impeccable attention to detail.
- Social Media Savvy: Experience managing campaigns, including paid ads, content planning, and performance analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft and PC environments. Basic familiarity with Photoshop, InDesign, HubSpot, WordPress, Meta Business Suite, and Google Ads is a plus.
- Collaborative Team Player: Flexible, energetic, and adaptable with a positive attitude and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
- Travel Experience: Extensive international travel experience and strong geographical knowledge are preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
