Denville City Lifestyle magazine is looking for a Freelance Writer to contribute 1–2 compelling, human-centered articles per month focused on local stories, businesses, or community members. This is a flexible opportunity ideal for a self-starter who enjoys storytelling, community engagement, and capturing the voices of real people. The hourly commitment is 2-4 hours per month.
Duties
- Pitch and/or write 1–2 original articles per month on local topics, businesses, or residents
- Conduct interviews with interesting local figures (e.g., business owners, creatives, or changemakers)
- Transcribe interviews and craft well-structured, engaging written pieces from those conversations
- Collaborate with the editorial team to meet submission deadlines and align with publication tone
- Ensure factual accuracy and a high standard of journalistic integrity in all writing
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Prior writing experience, preferably in journalism, blogging, or editorial content
- Comfort and professionalism in conducting live interviews, in-person or via phone/Zoom
- Strong written communication skills and an ability to tell authentic, people-focused stories
- Strong attention to detail, grammar, and flow
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
