About The Role
As a Content Marketer at Playground, you’ll be the second hire on our content team, playing a key role in shaping our voice and storytelling strategy within the child care industry. This is an opportunity to get in early and help build a content engine from the ground up—collaborating closely with our Content Lead to create compelling, educational, and actionable content for child care owners and directors across the country. You’ll contribute to the full content lifecycle, from brainstorming fresh ideas and researching industry trends, to writing blog posts, email campaigns, ads, and more. Who You Are
- You can flex your tone and style depending on the audience—whether you’re speaking to a small business owner or the decision-maker at a multi-site organization.
- You tell stories succinctly, with the reader in mind. This is a mission-driven industry, and resonating with your audience is key. We’re looking for someone who can strike the right balance between informative and emotional.
- You turn “mundane” topics—like paperwork—into clear, benefit-driven copy that’s engaging and accessible. Many of our readers are tech-averse or have a limited relationship with technology, so your writing should inform without overwhelming. We avoid jargon and buzzwords, and aim to connect honestly and directly.
- You’re comfortable switching between formats and word counts. Some days, you might write a 1,500-word blog post; other days, it might be a handful of headlines for Meta ads. You understand when a story needs more words—and when it doesn’t.
- Beyond writing, you bring a strong grasp of the industry or a willingness to develop one. Research is key, and your work should reflect relevant trends, needs, and timely opportunities for our audience.
- You write content that converts. What gets someone to click? To book a demo? You’ll maintain a confident, consistent voice across channels and be comfortable testing and iterating on copy to improve performance based on key metrics.
- You’re open to feedback and excited to collaborate with peers to help align our messaging with our go-to-market strategy.
What We’d Like You to Have (But Not Essential)
- Experience writing for B2B audiences in a mission-driven environment—education is preferred, but other industries will be considered.
- At least 2 years of experience as a copywriter, content writer, or content marketer in a collaborative role.
- Bonus points if you’re familiar with SEO best practices and know how to thoughtfully incorporate keywords into your work.
- Experience with HubSpot and Framer is a plus.

Compensation
Salary for this position is $85,000- $90,000 subject to standard withholding and applicable taxes. Job level and actual compensation will be decided on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified.
