Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy is seeking a dynamic and passionate Scientific Communications-Content Manager to join its team. This independent, entrepreneurial position will support ACGT’s mission by designing, implementing, and measuring performance of a comprehensive content strategy. This person must excel in writing scientific content positioned for different communication mediums and unique audiences. Proven experience of scientific writing is required.
The Scientific Communications-Content Manager will work to ensure that ACGT is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information within the cancer cell and gene therapy research network. ACGT's constituent base is primarily made up of two distinct sub-sets: (1) a patient-donor-prospect audience and (2) the cancer-related scientific research community. The Manager will work closely with the organization’s senior team on content creation, digital and social media marketing, media relations, development efforts, and stakeholder engagement.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Superb science writing and editing skills within the realm of cancer research.
- Proven track record in developing and authoring science and medicine communications both for print (e.g., Annual Reports, newsletters, etc.) and digital media (e.g., web CMS management, SEO, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
- Must be a creative and strategic thinker with good judgment and ability to make independent decisions in a changing environment.
- Self-starter, able to work independently and strategically to develop and implement project timelines and content.
- Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong eye for detail: Ability to prepare and proofread communications materials, correspondence, fundraising appeals, proposals for submission.
- High level of proficiency and experience in WordPress, email service providers, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of oncology research landscape is highly preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develop/conceptualize, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across ACGT's discreet audiences in collaboration with the ACGT team and constituents.
- Support the organization’s fundraising efforts with engaging and educational content for donors.
- Lead the generation of online content that leverages ACGT thought-leadership, scientific advisors and research fellows to engage audience segments and lead to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate.
- Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities.
- Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, direct mail, newsletters, brochures, annual report, e-newsletters, and ACGT's website.
- Coordinate webpage maintenance with webmaster; ensure that information is updated regularly and fresh (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.
- Track and measure the level of engagement within ACGT over time.
- Regularly attend scientific talks on diverse topics to stay up to date on cancer cell and gene therapy research trends.

Pay: $76,556.00 - $84,749.00 per year
